Description of Organization

The COMET, officially the Central Midlands Regional Transit Authority (CMRTA), is a regional transportation authority formed by Richland County, City of Columbia, and Lexington County by the Central Midlands Council of Governments.
 

 

The COMET provides transit services on 47 fixed routes, five ReFlex services, vanpool service for commuters, subsidy programs with Uber and Lyft and DART for transportation to grocery stores and at night, ADA complementary paratransit service throughout Richland and portions of Lexington Counties and eight Blue Bike bikeshare stations in Downtown Columbia. The COMET transports approximately 2.2 million passenger trips a year on a fleet of more than 90 buses, vans and trolleys. Transit services are provided under contract with RATP Dev USA, Inc., Enterprise Holdings, Lyft, Uber and Bewegen.

Hours of operation

 Our Administrative are open Monday through Friday 8am-4:30pm. Our Fixed Route bus services, regular bus services, run from 5am to 11pm at night depending on the area. Our ADA Paratransit Service, DART, is available for those who do not have the ability to use the regular bus.
