Event Details

Older adults in South Carolina may need extra help before, during, and after emergencies. The Senior P.R.E.P. (Planning and Resources for Emergency Preparedness) program is coming to Lexington County to share helpful information and resources.
The event, which is on April 4 from 9 a.m. to Noon at 213 Barr Road Lexington, is open to the public but geared toward older adults and those with disabilities partner agencies will play a significant role in delivering valuable information. The event focuses on fun, education, and preparedness.
Exhibitors will be available to provide information and materials related to emergencies. Each organization will have time to speak during the event and give a brief presentation if they’d like. Participants are encouraged to go around to each table and get a card signed to be entered into a drawing.
Free health screenings will be offered by Medicine Mart of Lexington.

The Senior P.R.E.P. program is a valuable resource that offers emergency planning assistance to senior citizens throughout South Carolina. Taking preventive measures beforehand is crucial to safeguard vulnerable older adults during emergencies.
Everyone can take steps now to prepare for emergencies.
Things to Consider:
· Plan with family, friends, and caregivers to assist with limitations.
· Include necessary assistive technology and medical supplies (i.e., oxygen tank) in your emergency kit.
· Have a plan or backup resource to power essential medical equipment.
· Check with any agency providing you services for special provisions in an emergency.
· Have clear and concise instructions for rescue personnel regarding special needs or equipment.
· Map out accessible emergency exits at home and work.
· Consider getting a medical alert system that can be used to call for help.
