Independent Living
As a part of our independent living services, we offer housing searches and advocacy. We equip people with the tools they need to reach their goals through consumer-driven services. Our services increase independent living skills, confidence level, and overall adaptability.

Able SC collects and maintains invaluable information on all resources in each of the communities we serve. We can help individuals and their families connect with the right internal and external resources for a variety of needs. We can also help service providers and other community professionals find out the answers to questions they may have about disability rights and resources.

Support Groups
Peer Supporters serve as role models, as only someone with personal experience with disabilities can do. They share life experiences one-on-one, in small groups, and do regular monthly peer support meetings for those interested - both on-site and online.

Disability Supportive Housing
Transition into the Community: Able SC can assist people with disabilities with living where they choose and maintaining their independence in the community. Living in a setting that takes away some of your choices, freedom, or independence can be frustrating. We can help navigate a move from any environment, including nursing homes, community residential care facilities, group homes, and other institutions.

Education
Able SC Outreach + Training: We educate the community through a variety of technical assistance and training programs to assist businesses with achieving full equity by including disability and fulfilling their legal obligations under disability rights legislation, including the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, SC Persons with Disability Right to Parent Act, etc.

Description of Organization
Able SC is a Disability Justice Nonprofit Organization and Center for Independent Living seeking transformational changes in systems, communities, and individuals.
Our Mission:
- Equip people with disabilities with tools to foster pride and direct their lives.
- Educate the community to challenge stereotypes and eliminate barriers.
- Advocate for access, equity, and inclusion at the individual, local, state, and national level.
We also provide youth transition services. As an organization staffed and board-directed by a majority of people with disabilities ourselves, we understand the needs of youth, their families, and the professionals supporting them in ways that other agencies may not.
